Diagnostics and Surveillance

We provide surveillance and diagnosis services of emerging viruses, supporting both local and global health initiatives. Our expertise includes the development of point-of-care assays for resource-limited settings and extensive collaboration with industry partners for research and development of diagnostic tools.

📍 The diagnostics and surveillance services are provided by ICGEB laboratories in Area Science Park.

Surveillance of Emerging Viruses

Assistance in the diagnosis and surveillance of emerging viruses, aiding both local and global health efforts. In house expertise include point-of-care assay development for resource-limited settings and a wide experience of interaction with industry for the research and development of diagnostic assays. The ICGEB has delivered Research Use Only (RUO) tests to the field and facilitated the preparation of a dossier for WHO Emergency Use Listing Procedure (EUL) authorization and interaction with regulatory agencies.

Molecular Detection Tool Development

Development of molecular tools for virus detection. There is a long experience in house for the development of RT-qPCR multiplex assays for human viruses and for isothermal amplification (LAMP) with a colorimetric readout. Available tools include quantitative standards for Limit of Detection (LoD) calculations, characterised samples for validation and a large biobank of samples.

Serological Tools Development

Design and development of antibody/antigen detection tools for accurate diagnosis. In house expertise for ELISA preparation, antibody design and production, RDT testing and development of POC-T. Several tools for the characterization of the assay as well as for the validation on human samples are also available.
