IR and Raman Spectroscopy

Portable FTIR and Raman instrumentation are designed for the identification of pathogens in biofluids. These cost-effective, rapid, and portable solutions require minimal operator training, making them suitable for deployment in hospitals and clinics, particularly in resource-limited settings like developing countries. They serve as Point-of-Care (POC) tools as they enable real-time analysis of viruses in large samples, empowering healthcare providers to obtain quick and reliable results without the necessity for specialized infection control experts.

The screening of a pathogen spectral library provided by the Virology group of ICGEB facilitates the development of chemometric protocols for automated on-site identification and screening of pathogens.
