Andrea Caporale is a researcher at the Institute of Crystallography - National Research Council (CNR) in Basovizza. His research activity is focused on the synthesis and purification of peptides and his topics include antimicrobial peptides, structure/function relationships and the application of peptides in biomaterials in biomedical applications.
He obtained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Padua in 1999. He obtained a Master’s degree in chemical synthesis from the University of Milan in 2001 and a PhD in Molecular Sciences, chemical specialization, from the University of Studied in Padua in 2008. In 2017, he obtained a degree in Pharmacy from the Federico II University of Naples. During these periods, he worked on the synthesis of constrained peptides to explore the function/structure relationship, the application of peptides in new materials, and the enzymatic reaction for the soft functionalization of biological molecules.
He is also involved in the doctoral course at the University of Trieste and in dissemination activities with high schools and scientific festivals.
