Gianluca Quarta is full professor of Applied Physics at the Department of Mathematics and Physics “Ennio de Giorgi”, University of Salento in Lecce, Italy. He graduated and got his Ph.D. in “Materials Engineering” at the University of Salento. He has been involved in the design and operations of all the experimental beamlines installed at the Centre of Applied Physics, Dating and Diagnostics (CEDAD) at the University of Salento.
He is author or co-author of more than 160 peer-reviewed scientific papers and associate editors of different journals. He is currently coordinator for the Lecce section of the National Committee 5 (Technological-interdisciplinary researches and accelerator physics) of the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and has served as expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
His research interests span from radiocarbon dating by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, Accelerator Physics and Applications, Ion Beam Analysis and the study of the interaction of charged particle beams with matter.
