Luca Puricelli obtained his Master’s Degree in Physics in 2013 at University of Milan, where he also achieved a PhD in Physics in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Alessandro Podestà , gaining extensive expertise in the characterization of biological samples on the micro- and nanoscale by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
In 2018 he joined the Nanobiotechnology Labs at the Joint Research Centre in Ispra (Varese, Italy), where he had the possibility to broaden his technical expertise on analytical instrumentation for the investigation of materials on the nanoscale, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), EDX spectroscopy, Plasma Sputtering, Profilometry, Photolithography.
From 2021 to June 2023 he has been teaching maths and physics in the high-school, before joining again the research environment from July 2023 at the NanoInnovation laboratories in Trieste (Area Science Park, Basovizza), in the group lead by Prof. Loredana Casalis. His current work, in the framework of PRP@CERIC project, is focused on the study of topographic and mechanical properties of cellular membranes by AFM, and their relevance in the interaction of cells with external pathogens and nanoparticles.
