Dr. Maria Josè Ruiz is a Medical Doctor with 13 years of experience in Health Care, Occupational Medicine, and Clinical Microbiology, particularly within hospital laboratory services. After obtaining a PhD and a Master’s in Clinical Research Methodology, she focused on the molecular and immunological aspects of human infections, leveraging her clinical background to enhance laboratory system organization, health risk assessment, pathogen identification, and antimicrobial resistance profiling. As a senior researcher at the ISS, she has been engaged for over 14 years in HIV vaccine trials (Phase I and II) within the Core Laboratory and She has been part of the Global Health center, contributing to the European HIV Vaccine Alliance (EHVA). Most recently, she has served as a Scientific Officer and Project Manager at the Italian Ministry of Health, overseeing international and European projects under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe framework. In this role, she is following projects in Personalized Medicine and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). She has developed educational resources and training programs while actively collaborating with various health stakeholders. Since 2022, she has also coordinated the national AMR research and ethics working group, supporting the implementation of Italy’s AMR National Plan. Since 2021, she has joint ECRIN as the European Correspondent for the Italy and actively participates in ItaCRIN, solidifying her impact on European clinical research infrastructure.
