Mass Photometer

Refeyn TwoMP Mass Photometer
Refeyn TwoMP is a bench-top instrument based on mass photometer technology to directly measure the mass and mass distribution of single molecules (mainly biomolecules) and particles, in solution in their native state and without need of labelling. The instrument can be applied to quickly and dynamically assess sample integrity and homogeneity as well as to study protein interactions, oligomerisation and macromolecular assembly.
Samples that can be analysed are proteins, protein complexes, nucleic acids, macromolecular assemblies and nanostructures. The instrument measures scattering effect of light caused by a single molecule and provide a measurement on the number of molecules and the mass of the molecules themselves, in order to provide information on the state of oligomerization and of the interaction between molecules in solution.

  • Analysis on samples in aqueous solution in the mass range of 30 kDa to 5 MDa.
  • Resolution (FWHM) 25 kDa @ 66 kDa and 60 kDa @ 660 kDa.
  • Mass precision ± 2%.
  • Mass error ± 5% (single measurement).
  • Concentration range 100 pM – 100 nM.
  • Sensitivity: « 1 ng of protein.
  • Wavelength: 488 nm.
  • Field of view: 4 x 11 μm (@ 500 Hz) up to 12 x 17 μm (@ 135 Hz).
  • Pixel size: 12 nm.

📍The system is located at Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste laboratories in Area Science Park.
