Mechanobiology Platform

Cellular mechanics is a powerful tool that can be utilized to characterize cells, monitor their mechanical behaviour during differentiation processes, and diagnose pathological alterations. Indeed, cellular mechanics can be assessed to investigate possible deviation from usual cellular and subcellular architectures as a consequence of pathogen-induced effects, overall providing a fingerprint of molecular, morphological and biophysical aspects induced by the disease.
This multiscale biophysical platform defines functional and dynamic traits of the host-pathogen interaction and integrates correlative electron, photon and force microscopies for capturing the sample’s morpho-mechanical biophysical details at tissue, cellular and sub-cellular level.
